(no subject)

I met a family yesterday, a mom and two very young, very beautiful girls. Since this is the South, I asked the generally expected question, "Are you ready for Santa?" The oldest child, instead of smiling, looked puzzled. I glanced up at the mom and said, "Oh, excuse me. Do you celebrate a different holiday at your house?" She smiled and nodded, so I said to the child, "I would love to know about your holiday. Will you tell me?" The child grinned, that grin that kids wear when they're about to take an adult on a wild ride, and proudly said, "Banana Birthday!"

Her mom and I exploded into giggles. I never did hear what holiday they really celebrate, because the conversation turned to ways of celebrating the birth of the banana.
