For reals, this time. It took the Russians being jerks on LJ to chase me away and restart my DW blog, but at least I'm posting again.
I just finished editing the bios for a con program book. Bless your precious hearts, all you bio writers, but there's something I have to say. First, once you finish your bio, go back through it and remove every instance of the word "also". Yep, even that adorable one in the middle of the third sentence. "Also" is seldom necessary, and some of you are using it five or six times in a five line bio. Let 'em go - let 'em all go.
And let's talk about "currently." Unless you are in the midst of packing boxes to move out of your apartment or you're a rock & roll nomad who's got to ramble on to find the queen of all your dreams, don't say you "currently" live in your state or with your husband or on the moon. You live there. Period.
Last thing, I swear. Every word does not require capitalization. Turn in a sentence like "I write Books about Pirates and Cowboys chasing Vampires through the Prairie," and I will be sorely tempted to Beat you with a Big Stick.
*whew* Done. And back to work I go.
