I really do not love books written in second person, present tense. This afternoon, feeling the desire to read for a little while, I picked up a book I'd checked out from the library, only to discover it was second person present tense. Yep, it was all "You open the door. You press the elevator button." and on and on. It's like reading a Choose Your Own Adventure without the freedom to choose anything.

Ha! Perfect description. I love it.

That is really weird. Roleplaying games are that way...but you get to choose stuff.

Well, yeah, a little. In RPGs, I tell the GM what I'm doing, he tells me what the result is, and if we disagree, there's a lovely argument. The question of how well my character can see in the dark has become something of a classic within my gaming group. *laugh*

John said that in college he thought the whole point of roleplaying was to argue the moderator into agreeing with your interpretation. LOL

The current book I am writing is a conversion from a roleplaying game, parts of which were done over email. So I have whole scenes in second person present tense which I am converting into real language (third person, past tense.) I did think briefly of leaving it the way it was and decided that was an insane idea. I wonder if the book you were reading started as a game.

My GM is my husband, so I do have a tendency to argue him around to my PoV. When I can. He's pretty stubborn.

God bless you for changing to third person!!! :D

LOL. You are welcome.

My GM used to be my husband, which was very nice for many reasons. This game is someone else...which makes me kind of sad because when I go through periods of being obsessed and thinking about nothing else, there's nothing I can do to influence him to run the game more...like there was when John was the Moderator. ;-)

Hi honey! Wow, thanks for buying and liking the book! I had hoped it might do better, so it's lovely to hear that someone actually liked it! *hugs*

I miss you, too.
