I finally had my first publishing-related nightmare. I dreamed I'd shown up to a signing on my release date. The store was set up with a big table, and several boxes of my books. But when I opened the boxes, my book's gorgeous cover had been replaced with a weird, tangerine and white watercolor abstract. I thought maybe it wasn't my book at all, but the title was mine, and my name was on the book. I looked up and the bookseller was busy scribbling a sale price right across the front of each book with a permanent marker. "We're pretty sure these won't sell, so we have to do what we can to unload them," she said.

[livejournal.com profile] philipmcavery says this is probably the equivalent, for me, of the naked-in-public dreams other people have.
