On this day in the year 64, Nero fiddled while Rome burned. Okay, no, he wasn't playing music to soothe the savage fire - some accounts put him in Antium at the time. But he had a delightful time blaming Christians who may really have been responsible. There were confessions, but since they were achieved via torture, their veracity is questionable. Me, I think the fire was accidental (all those wooden buildings?) but who knows anymore?
