Sep. 7th, 2008 03:16 pmToday in 1901, the Boxer Rebellion ended with the signing of the Boxer Protocol. And speaking of Spike...*
I had a lovely surprise yesterday. As readers of this LJ already know, I didn't get to go to DragonCon this year, much to my dismay. Even though I knew he'd probably be mobbed, my boyfriend**, James Marsters, was going to be there. He was the original image in my head while writing the character of Philip McAvery, and I harbored a tiny hope that I could have given him a copy of the book, just to see what might come of it. It just wasn't to be, though, since I used up my travel budget on WorldCon this year. Imagine my delight when I received this:

My darling friend
dch4 got the picture for me, and my equally darling friend
webquatch stood in line for the sig! I am beside myself, not only because my boyfriend James touched this (OMGI'mneverwashingmyhandagain!) but because the guys were so thoughtful! It's currently standing on my desk next to my computer until I find a decent frame for it. I love you both!!!
* Oh come on, how can a Buffy fan think of the Boxer Rebellion and NOT think of Spike?
** Yes, he's my boyfriend. And so are Naveen Andrews, Josh Holloway and John Barrowman. In my world, they're all unattached, straight and completely adore me.
