Today in 1546, Tycho Brahe, the Danish alchemist and astronomer, was born. He was the last major astronomer to work without the aid of a telescope. As one who has trouble seeing to the end of my street with my naked eyes, I bow down to Tycho's skill.

I took the Beetle shopping this afternoon, since he wasn't quite finished. We decided to try Kohl's, since they were advertising good sales. I am once more reminded of how much I like online shopping. The crowd wasn't bad, but the store was full of bait&switch sales. I managed to notice most of them, but one got past me, to the point that I didn't know it until I looked at my receipt on the way out of the store. I complained, and was told the candle I thought was on sale was the "scent of the month" and therefore did not qualify for the sale price. Was there a sign? No. Was there a display of any sort? No. Just a table full of candles with a sale sign for the size. I didn't fight with the girl, because there were seven people in line for her attention. I got home and sent email to the corporate office instead. We'l see if they bother responding.

We stopped at a couple other places, before we decided we'd had enough. We're home now, and I'm getting some coffee and settling in for the evening. Last night was our big party night - Todd's work party, followed by [livejournal.com profile] sequinpusher's bash. I'm sore from all the dancing, but it sure was fun.
