Dec. 17th, 2008 07:42 pmToday in 546, King Totila and his Ostrogoths conquered Rome by bribing the Byzantine garrison. Nothing like taking the easy way...but how much does it cost to buy off a whole garrison?
I had an awful day, mood wise. Now I'm settling down to write a fight scene, which will probably turn out extra violent and bloody. But it's better that I take out my frustrations on paper than people, yes?
By the way, for my pals in Virginia and Maryland, Lelia Taylor of the indie Creatures 'n Crooks Bookshoppe in Richmond needs help. Because of the competition from the larger chains, she's having to consider closing the store. During the month of January, customers will earn a raffle ticket for every $25 they spend. (This includes phone customers). On January 31, the store will host a huge author event, with Katherine Neville, Donna Andrews, Ellen Crosby, Maria Lima, Ellen Byerrum, Andy Straka, Joseph Guion, John Gilstrap, Austin S. Camacho, Maggie Stiefvater, and J.B Stanley onsite to sign books and chat with fans.
