Today in 1777, George Washington's Continental Army went into winter quarters at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. He should have come to South Carolina, where a green Christmas is the norm. It would have been way more comfortable.

When I was a child, I read a book called Flight to the Lonesome Place by Alexander Key. I loved the book, but I had questions when I finished it, so I wrote Mr Key a letter. He very kindly wrote back to me, solidifying his place in my Top Ten Fabulous People Ever. Alas, I'd borrowed the book from the library, and when I was old enough to buy my own copy, it had long since gone out of print. Flash forward to today...my librarian, Liz, and I exchanged small gifts this morning. When I opened mine, there inside lay a copy of Flight to the Lonesome Place. Tears and hugs ensued. I can't wait to reread it.

I just got off the phone with my agent. She wants me to let her know what cons I'd like to be invited to, so she can get in touch and see about wrangling an invite for me. But I have no idea! I'm scheduled for RavenCon and ConCarolinas, and I hope to be scheduled for DragonCon. Talk to me, LJ braintrust! Which cons should I try for? I live in South Carolina, so driving distance is preferred. I'm not a big enough name for the cons to pick up my airfare. (Not yet, anyway. *grin*)
