Today in 1767, Samuel Wallis, an English sea captain, sighted Tahiti and is considered the first European to reach the island. Leis and little umbrella drinks all around!

One of the disadvantages to travelling for nearly two weeks...where the hell did I leave my rewetting drops? If I don't find them soon, I'm taking the contacts out and squinting all night.

ConCarolinas was an absolute ball, as usual. On Friday night, [livejournal.com profile] beatrizwench, [livejournal.com profile] faithhunter and [livejournal.com profile] davidbcoe surprised me by making our planned dinner into a party to celebrate my new full-time writer status. I managed not to cry, but it was tough. There were presents and cake (delicious red velvet cake...how ever did Miss M guess? *grin*)

On Saturday we Magical Words folks met for lunch with a crowd of our devoted readers, and laughed and ate coconut shrimp and just had a lovely time. Later Saturday night we had a sooper-seekret Magical Words business meeting in [livejournal.com profile] faithhunter's RV, a meeting which has given birth to a bunch of fabulous projects that you'll be hearing about in the days and weeks to come.

Sunday, as soon as my final panel was done, we left for our family vacation on Edisto Island, SC. The beach was amazing, as always. My baby niece wasn't a bit afraid of the waves - in fact, it was all we could do to keep her from launching herself into the water constantly. After the beach trip, the Beetle and I drove with my parents to Zephyrhills FL to bury my grandmother's remains, then swung up to Orlando to visit a school he's interested in attending, Full Sail University. He was really impressed, but it's terribly expensive, so we've got a few other schools we intend to visit this summer.

Now I'm home, where the computer lives. With lots of projects in motion and in waiting. It's going to be a neat summer.

I forgot to mention...just before we left for our travels, I convinced the Beetle to get a haircut. He now looks so much like Orlando Bloom that it's a little scary!

This is, of course, the real Orlando Bloom, but the Beetle has that hair. And I just love it!
