Today in 1633, the Holy Office in Rome forced Galileo Galilei to recant his view that the Sun, not the Earth, was the center of the Universe. Whew, thank goodness that nonsense was stopped! Next he was going to start talking about men walking on the moon or something.

I don't know if this is happening to anyone else, but lately debt collectors call for some random person I've never heard of, and leave a message on my machine for that person. "This message is for John Johnson. If you are not John Johnson, please do not listen to this message. If you are not John Johnson and you continue listening to this message, you may be prosecuted."

Seriously? You called my house and you're leaving the message but you're threatening me for listening to it? I don't think so. It's happened more than once this summer, and every time I listen long enough to get the callback number so I can call them and remove my number from their dbase. They're always polite when I call, remove my number without argument and so far I haven't been prosecuted, but I wonder how long it'll be before someone tries to sue them.

Okay, back to work.
