I had a wild hair this morning, for a new story. This is bad because I haven't quite finished the second book in Kestrel's story yet. But it's good because I have something to work on when I DO finish. I always wondered how other writers managed to produce so much, and it's starting to look like I might have the necessary skillz myself. Cool!

By the way, I have a question for all you folks wiser in the ways of online commerce than I. What do Amazon sales rankings really mean? Mine started out around 250K, soared to 350K and is now sitting at 65K. Not that it's a big deal, since the book doesn't come out until March, but I was just wondering what the numbers mean. If anything.

In the grand scheme of things, probably nothing. They do it by "averages" so a ranking of 350k or 250k is roughly 1 book purchased a month. You're at 65k now which means you probably had two or three pre-orders this past month.

Authors put WAY too much stake into Amazon rankings. It means really nothing :P
