Today in 1814, at the Meux and Company Brewery in London, a huge vat containing over 135,000 gallons of beer ruptured, causing other vats in the same building to succumb in a domino effect. As a result, more than 323,000 gallons of beer burst out and gushed into the streets. The wave left 9 people dead: 8 due to drowning, one from alcohol poisoning.

And today in 2008, Misty burned about half of the frakking cookies she was baking for the Scout dinner tomorrow night. I hate baking.

Awww. Maybe you should check the oven temperature? I know we've had a few that were off by 25-50 degrees, so it made it easy to burn stuff.

Anyway, if you want a cheap, fast replacement, and you have peanut butter, get a cup of that, a cup of sugar, and an egg. Mix it up, plop on a cookie sheet, bake for 8-12 minutes at 325, and you're done.

Yep, no flour. They're very dense as a result, which means for pure peanut butter cookies, I prefer them to the flour kind, though I do use flour when I add M&Ms and such.

The Boston Molasses Disaster of 1919 beats that (or either, not to minimize your cookie disaster): 2,300,000 gallons of molasses, 21 killed, 150 injured.
