mistymasseyToday in 1947, the House Un-American Activities Committee began its investigation into Communist infiltration of Hollywood, resulting in a blacklist that prevented some from working in the industry for years. Now it all makes sense - maybe Ms Bachmann is just trying to be hip and retro. Yeah, I don't buy it either.
Last Saturday was my wedding anniversary, so the husband and I went out to Lowe's to see about buying a new door for the house. (I tell you, we sure know how to party.) I've been wanting one with a bevelled glass insert, Lowe's had the design I wanted and the husband was able and willing to hang the door. The price was fine, but we were discouraged that the only doors available were pre-hung on accompanying jambs, which meant we'd have to pay the insane installation price. Making my formerly $300 door suddenly jump to $600 - way beyond my price range.
Today I talked to a friend's husband, who's a contractor, to see if he knew where I could buy a door that didn't come pre-hung on a jamb. He said we'd probably have to special order it, and that it would be more expensive if we did. He also mentioned that it was too bad we weren't willing to just buy the pre-hung door and discard the jamb we didn't need.
That had never, not even for a minute, occurred to me. *headdesk*
