Today in 1932, Italian writer Umberto Eco was born. Oh dear, I guess it's time for my annual attempt at reading Foucault's Pendulum. Every time I try, I get a chapter or so further before leaving the book on the floor and forgetting about it. I want to love it, I do.

Does it seem odd to anyone else that now, at the beginning of the year, when we're all supposed to be planning good things for the future and making ourselves healthy and stuff, that the History Channel is running Armageddon Week? Yes, children, exercise and eat right, for tomorrow the End is Coming!!!

Better look busy.

I noticed that when I got my History Channel TV listings e-mail. What is up with that? All it told me was that I won't be watching much of History in the coming week or so. Sheesh. I'm trying to figure out what prompted Apocalypse Week -- usually their themes tie in to something -- but haven't come to a conclusion yet.

Now that I have more userpic space, I seriously need to go hunt down a few Dr. Horrible icons. I get green with envy every time I see one.

But Foucault's Pendulum has Templars!!!! And Masons! You have to read the whole thing! Plus there's lots of inside jokes about publishing.

(My dad's never finished it either. But I love it.)
