Today in 1901, poet Laura Riding was born. She was involved romantically for many years with poet Robert Graves, but when they split for good in 1939, she renounced poetry. Gee whiz, why was it poetry's fault?

David B Coe ([livejournal.com profile] davidbcoe) has a new book coming out on the 20th. Yep, that's right, a new book and a new president - what a nice day Tuesday will be! Anyway, Joshua Palmatier ([livejournal.com profile] jpsorrow), author of the Throne of Amenkor series, is featuring a great interview with David today, so check it out. And when you're done there, drop over to Magical Words. We had a special guest today - Jia Gayles of the Knight Agency, talking about writers marketing and promoting themselves.

The Beetle is leaving this afternoon to spend the weekend camping with his Scout troop. Yes, sleeping in tents outside. When the lows tonight and tomorrow night will be in the lower teens. I know it'll be okay - he's got thermals, gloves, a toboggan, wool socks and hand and foot warmers, and his sleeping bag is rated to -20. Not to mention they'll have a big campfire going. He'll be fine, I know. I still won't sleep well until he's home again.

It's pretty darned funny that this toy, the Playmobil Security CheckPoint, even exists. But then I read the reviews, and I'm nearly falling off my chair!

Beetle will be fine because he's a Boy Scout, a Privateer and most importantly, your's and Todd's son.

LOVE the icon by the way, a toast to St. Errol!

Thank you, darling. I just checked Weather.com, and now they're calling for tomorrow night's low to be 25. How sad is it that 25 seems warm to me? Ha!

Thanks for the heads up on the Playmobile Security CheckPoint. I've passed that link around the office, to a different company, and to a different country as soon as I email my family in Canada. They know a commercial pilot who was once relieved of his fingernail clippers because it was a security threat. He's. The. Pilot. Besides the emergency ax that is next to his seat, there are a few other options other than fingernail clippers in the cockpit. I'm just saying.

ps. 25F is bloody cold to me. I may have been born in Canada, but I adapted to Texas *very* well. Good luck to your lad!

You know, I've always wondered who they think is capable of taking over an aircraft with a nail clipper. Besides MacGyver, that is. *grin*

Those are the BEST REVIEWS I have ever read on the ENTIRE Amazon site!

O. M. G! I am so impressed by the creativity and smarts on display.

*still laughing*

THANK YOU for sharing the link.
