Jan. 24th, 2009 10:57 amToday in 1986, L. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology and writer of science fiction, retreated from this mortal existence. Or so they say. He's been publishing books regularly ever since. Makes me wonder if he's really hanging out on a French estate with Jim Morrison, drinking Parisian absinthe, smoking Cuban cigars and laughing.
My friend Gail Martin invited me to be her guest on her Ghost in the Machine podcast, and we had a lovely chat about fiction's bad boys! Want to hear? (If that one doesn't suit you, try this link instead.)
For anyone who might have missed the memo, we were privileged to have Kim Harrison as our special guest on Magical Words yesterday. She shared her thoughts on author swag - drop by and see what she had to say.
The Beetle is currently reading Sun Tzu's The Art of War. Yesterday he mused, "You know, a lot of the things Sun Tzu said could be applied to regular life."
"Yeah?" I said.
"Yeah. It'll help in my quest to become an evil overlord."
Oh dear. My kid wants to be Ming the Merciless.

Date: 2009-01-27 02:31 am (UTC)I just pre-ordered Kim Harrison's new book at Amazon. I'm using it as a carrot, and I have to finish writing a few more chapters to read it.
*laughs about son* Mine is into ancient cultures too and wants to be a pharaoh. ;D
