mistymasseyToday in 1791, Maximilien Robespierre proposed the Self-denying Ordinance. "Wait, no, I don't!" he said immediately after.
My belly dance troupe decided to splurge this year and purchase professionally-made costumes. We wrestled with the style and color, took enough measurements to nearly clone ourselves with, then sent off the order. The outfits arrived this week, and they were given out to us at class last night. I, having very little modesty and extraordinary amounts of self-esteem, immediately stripped to undies to try on my new skirt and top. And was horrified to find that the skirt was waaaaay too small.
I was near tears. We were planning to wear our new outfits to a performance on Friday May 22, which meant there was no time for me to send the skirt back, and I have no skill at tailoring. The others tried to comfort me, and kept insisting it looked fine (it did not.) But this morning I got an email from one of the other dancers, the only one who didn't try on her things last night. She got home and realized the skirt in her bag was too big. She had my skirt and I had hers! Sure enough, we got together tonight and made the switch, and now I am blissfully happy. My outfit looks beautiful, and I feel beautiful in it. I'll post a picture next week before the show, so y'all can adore me. *grin*
