May. 19th, 2009 06:11 pmToday in 1536, Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII of England, was executed for adultery, treason, and incest. She should have known better than to lose her head over a man, even if he was the king.
I was driving home this afternoon when I came upon what appeared to be a license check at a busy intersection that crosses a railroad track. I rolled down my window when I pulled up to the officer, but instead of asking for my license, he handed me a flyer warning me of the dangers of crossing train tracks. "Don't ever race a train!" he said. I promised I wouldn't and drove on, but now I'm curious as to why they were out there. There's nothing on the local news, but I can't help wondering if someone lost a game of train chicken.
