Today in 1881, The American Red Cross was established by Clara Barton. I'm related to her through my father's side of the family (my maiden name is Barton). It's admirable, sure, but why couldn't I have been related to a billionaire that said in his will that all his money would be left to some future book-loving, belly-dancing Scorpio descendant?

I am made of tiredness today. I moved 30 shelves of books today. And now I have to go dress for dance practice. I feel like a Gumby doll someone left in tne back window of a car in July until it was sticky and melty.

My dancing should look pretty funny tonight.

Clara Barton started the Red Cross nearby here. Our church meets in a lovely old house that was a hospital during the Civil War. During renovations, they found a scalpel between floor boards with a red cross symbol on it. I thought that was very cool!
