I'm waiting for Mark Sanford's nonsensical excuses press conference. As a South Carolinian, I have long been unhappy with his stance on education in my state. More recently I was angry over his attempt to refuse the stimulus money, and now I am horribly embarrassed by his behavior. My only comfort is in reminding myself (and telling everyone who will listen) that I never voted for him.

And I never will.

when i first read this article a couple of days ago, i wondered what you thought of your state gov. just disappearing (and without leaving anyone in charge)

but the reappearing is even better (heather's fictional quote): "so i went a way for six days, including father's day, and not even my wife and kids knew where i was and i didn't really leave any one in charge of the state, and my office thought i was on the appalachian trail but i was really in argentina with my mistress. sorry."

NC's last two governor's haven't been much better. Good ol' Mike Easley was apparently spending thousands and thousands of dollars on these elaborate weekend vacations with taxpayer money. "Gosh, how are we going to put that money back? Oh, I know (says our current bitch of a governor, Bev Perdue) let's take it from the state employees. Teachers won't mind." So I guess we are responsible for the partying our governor did. Sure, that makes sense!
