Today in 1693, Dom Perignon invented Champagne. Suddenly a mimosa sounds so good...

The Beetle received an invitation to visit Japan with People to People, but after I did a little digging, I discovered that their track record isn't as good as I'd like. On top of that, the cost would run between 5 and 7 thousand dollars for the trip. For that kind of money, I could buy the child a car.

Thanks for the poll answers. I've bowed to the majority and started Baker's book, so I'll let you know how that goes. But polling is such fun, I'm doing it again. I've been invited to submit to another anthology, this time about faeries at war. I have a general idea of what I want to write, but I can't decide in which war to set it.

I was torn. I'm all over the Napoleonic War at the moment, but my heart's always been with Andy Jackson and Jean Lafitte. Loved that movie. Plus, pirates would definitely call in the faerie contingent.

That's almost exactly the same train of thought I had!

*hugs right back*

All three present intriguing possibilities but I went with the Battle of New Orleans. That would be fun.

Pardon me for being the Devil's advocate, but I am wondering would Napoleon be to arrogant to get the help for winning the war? (I'm sorry, history major nerd here T____T) Or would he, a seasonsed soldier know when he needs help? Still it was a huge failure for him, he'd benefit greatly from it. Then again, I can see the American colonialists making deals with faeries for help against the British, here they are a brand new country, all that open space and the faeries ever shrinking space on the British Isles and Europe (nevermind there are people already living here, conflict with the local spirits might arise, Charles De Lint covered this heavily in his Newford series and it was awesome I wish more people would take advantage of it :) )

Still, I can't wait to see the finished product!

Napoleon, almost done to death. American Revolution? Could be interesting. But the Battle of New Orleans! That's not exactly common. Would be FUN.
