I'm planning on driving in to Atlanta for D*Con on Friday night. I'm staying at the Marriott, and I've been told the best idea is to park at a MARTA station and take the train to the hotel, but which station do I choose? Will there even be any parking available by the time I reach Atlanta?

From where you are coming, down I85 I assume, the two closest with parking are Doraville, with a little more driving Chamblee. Both of them are likely to have parking on a friday evening. Depending on when exactly you are getting in check the Marta website to make sure trains are running. There has been some discussion lately of cutting some train service or hours to save money. If I were you I'd look at covered parking nearer the hotel. It costs a little more but your car is a lot more accessable.

Thanks!

You think there'd be spaces available near the hotel? That would be simpler.

I don't know if you were willing to pay for parking right nearby, but my work is selling parking passes for the Courtland Street Garage (Map:http://tinyurl.com/dragonconparking) for $60. Looks like it's a block or so away. Parking is good from noon, Sept 4th, but no in or out.
If it's what you're looking for, give us a call: 404-733-5000

Personally, I'd still park farther away and take MARTA, though. I HATE driving in town, and I work here!

Yeah, I'm looking at the schedule and I'm thinking the Doraville station is my best choice. I CAN drive in crazy downtown traffic, but I'd rather not if I can help it.

Doraville is going to be the most convenient for you, and it has a long term deck. Your other option would be a short turn around 285 to Dunwoody and using it. I don't know how much a day Doraville is, but Dunwoody is $4/day.

Doraville is $7, so maybe I'll try Dunwoody. Thanks! Are you coming to D*Con?

I will see you there Misty.

Thinking about doing it myself this year. Just depends on if staying at hotel or staying with friends at their place.

Yeah, Doraville is $7 to catch the people coming in and wanting to hit the first MARTA station on a line. North Springs on the North Line is the same way.

And I will not be at D*C. I may try and come down to hang out for a bit, but won't be doing anything at the Con itself.

It might be a good idea to line those ducks up, sweetie! You've only got a few more days. Eep!

I'll look for you at D*Con. :D
