Dec. 9th, 2009 08:22 pmToday in Sweden and Finland is Anna's Day, which marks the day to start the preparation process of the lutefisk to be consumed on Christmas Eve. Have you ever seen lutefisk? It's "a repulsive gelatinous fishlike dish that tasted of soap and gave off an odor that would gag a goat." Nummy.
Like most of you, we suffered through hideous weather over the last 24 hours, but despite worrying that my house would float off its foundation, I'm still grateful it wasn't snow. Sure, snow is pretty, but when you're employed by the school district, you have to make up whatever days you miss due to snow. Frankly, I don't want to lose any of my spring break or have to go an extra day at the end of the year. No snow is worth that!
We have our Christmas tree up and there are a few presents wrapped. I'm dreadful about wrapping. I start out wrapping beautifully, with careful folds and lovely bows and such. But as the holiday looms, the more haphazard my wrapping becomes. Oh well, doesn't matter, since it'll just be so much shredded mess on Christmas Day anyway. :D
