mistymasseyToday in 1759, Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000 year lease at £45 per annum and started brewing Guinness. Making this a high holy day for Rennies everywhere.
We saw Avatar in 3D at the late show last night. The story was nothing new, but it was executed beautifully. The guys adored it, and are talking about seeing it again. I think I'll go to Sherlock Holmes when they do.
So here we are, at the last day of 2009. It hasn't been the easiest year, and I'm not sorry to say goodbye to it. There were some shining moments:
- Mad Kestrel being nominated for the SCASL Young Adult Award
- meeting some pretty neat people at RavenCon in April
- dinner with The Authors at ConCarolinas in May
- finding out that my publisher sold the German rights
- meeting my editor in person
- babbling to James Marsters at D*Con
- working with the wonderful folks on Magical Words
- dancing at faire
- my first royalty check
- watching my son grow
- and of course, the birth of my adorable niece Anastasia Grace.
Those were the biggies, off the top of my head. There were other things that made my world more pleasant. Burn Notice, avocadoes, the beach, The Big Bang Theory, bracelets, new vitamins to help my hair grow, peppermint ice cream, my lovely snake necklace created for me by Faith Hunter, the Red Bowl finally opening down the road from my house, Leverage, my amazing kitchen shears that actually do what they claim they can, Scrumpy's Cider...aw heck, I could go on all day, except that I have somewhere to be in about 90 minutes.
So Happy New Year to all of you! May 2010 be the shining year of dreams coming true for everyone. I raise my glass to you all.
