Last night the weather people were in twelve kinds of uproar, because of a thunderstorm headed this way. I took my flag down and made sure nothing that might blow away was left out. The power went out around 10, but the weather skated past us. Sprinkles and breezes and lightning way off in the distance. I still don't know why our power went out, but it came back around midnight. So I hope my friends who got the brunt of the storm are doing okay today.

My husband has a superpower. He can go anywhere - the garage, the post office, the DMV - and not only is there never a line, sometimes he even gets things for free. I never take flat tires to the tire place anymore, because if I do, I'll have to wait at least an hour and it'll cost me between $15 and $150. He can walk in, get a tire patched for no cost at all and be home in 20 minutes. A few weeks back, he finally decided to replace the driver's license that had fallen into bits after he washed it. He left the house at 8 am, and was back by 8:30 with his brand new license. All done. This morning I took the Beetle over to the DMV, and the line at 8:15 was down the walk and around the building.

*sigh* Clearly it's his superpower.
