Today in 1384, Jadwiga was crowned King of Poland, although she was, in fact, a woman. So if women could be king 700 years ago, who put up the glass ceiling?

Faire is over for another year. We arrived only an hour after the cannon. I've given up trying to make gate when I'm not actually working, because it just isn't going to happen. The wind was brisk and cold, but the sky was blue and people were in good moods, so we had a lovely final day. I wore my new corset (not that anyone could see it for a while, since I was also wearing gear to keep myself warm!) and it was delightfully comfortable. I may never return to a bodice again. We saw lots of dear faces, people we only see once a year. I did a good amount of Christmas shopping, not to mention a couple of presents for myself (and we were offered some excellent discounts since it was closing day!) We worked our way to the end of the faire, then started the intensely slow process of saying goodbye as we headed back out again. Rennies cannot say goodbye quickly - it's not in our nature.

[livejournal.com profile] philipmcavery is in the kitchen making soup for dinner, and the Beetle is hiding out with a video game. My house needs a good straightening, but it can wait until tomorrow. For the moment, I'm enjoying the peace.
