The writing went much better today. I didn't work on the book at all yesterday. Instead, I opened the library for summer school students in the morning, came home and read for a while, then took my snake to the Beetle's Scout meeting. There is nothing quite so funny as a pack of preteen boys watching a snake eat a live mouse.

Even though I'm on a deadline, taking that day was incredibly therapeutic. I feel normal again.
