People do this?

I would need years of therapy if I happened upon them in the mall or downtown. And possibly a trip to the emergency room for heart palpitations.

Oddly enough, I could dress up and join them and it wouldn't bother me at all.

If you saw one, could you just join them immediately without dressing up? It might be your best defense, if caught in that situation. ;^D

Good idea, but I'm afraid the uncontrollable jitters would give me away...*grin*

So the question becomes: would it be from the surprise and alarm of "not normal" that would be so freaky, or would it be that people are doing this?
Hmm. And maybe a second question: would you (if you were going to) have no problem doing this because of knowing what was going on, or because acting in a group could be kind of fun - especially startling folks?

The problem is that I am too easily persuaded that the strange and unearthly is real. I'm well past 40, and I still have nights when I'm sure there's a creature under the bed. It's crazy, I know, but there it is.

If I was part of the group, and therefore knew what was happening, the fear would be lessened. Not entirely, though - if someone in my group started acting the part too realistically, and I started believing what was happening around me too well, it wouldn't matter if I was participating. BLITEOTW (http://myelvesaredifferent.blogspot.com/2007/05/blog-like-its-end-of-world-bliteotw.html) is a great example. I knew what was going on, and I was playing along. And about halfway through the day, I became so uncomfortable with it, I had to step away from the internet altogether.

Celly's right.

Also, I about spit my snack on the screen when I read the "Shopping Spree of the Dead."

So terribly tempting to do this at South Park or SouthPointe mall...

That's what [livejournal.com profile] philipmcavery liked best, too! He immediately starting talking about zombies using the Visa Pass card, like the people in the commercials, so that they didn't have to try and count money. The card would just stick to the ichor on their hands, they wave it at the machine, and off they go. *grin*

Know I'm not a pirate (though I like them just fine, thank you!), but I thought maybe you all could be ghost-ship pirates for a day. That's kind of like zombies (kinda). Ye know, pale, unearthly, and unsettling. Oh, yeah, and pasty, but maybe more articulate.

*grins*

Could be fun! Ghosts don't scare me at all. And I imagine I could convince a few of the crew to play along...

That's absolutely hilarious. We humans are such a weird species. (I am certainly no exception.)
