No, that wasn't my pirate noise - it was my frustration growl.

My MiL came over to take the Beetle out for lunch, and they were gone about two hours. During that time, I was working so well, just a'typing away. I was in Da Zone, y'all. Until they returned. The Beetle came in, kissed me and went to his room (he knows.) But my MiL came in, sat down and started telling me about all the health issues of people from her church. People I don't even know. I let her talk for a few minutes, then said, "I'm sorry, I'm so very busy. Can we visit later?" And she didn't even seem to hear me. She just kept talking. I tried to get back to work, but I'd been yanked out of the zone. She's gone now, and I'm crawling the walls to get back into that wild place where the words run like a river.

I know she didn't mean any harm, but right this minute I just want to hit her.

In other news, my wonderful ed.assistant, Stacy, sent me two pictures of ships that will go on my title page. They needed to choose one, but they'd looked at them so much, they could no longer decide, so they left it to me. Y'all will like the one I picked. Promise!

Yeah, I can join you in the argh on that. I've had that happen far too many times, and often times by people that I would feel really bad for biting their head off. At least your family knows better than to interrupt.

Isn't there a law that say's it's ok to kill the MiL who interrupts writing? Or the postman? Or the meter reader? Or the next door neighbor?
Yeah -- I'm sure there is.
Has to be.

Well, crap on toast! Maybe you need to put up a sign. Skull and crossbones, something like that. Or "Disturb me and I'll feed ya to the deeps!" Pet pirhannas?

There's got to be something...

When your book is an actual physical thing that people can hold in their hands and go, "Oh. Well, I didn't quite believe you, but here it is now," writing will seem more like a job and less like goofing around on the computer.
