My editorial assistant, Stacy, upon receiving the office copies of my book last week, couldn't wait and sent me two of them, ahead of my contracted copies. They arrived on Wednesday. I tore open the package and just stared for a while. There was the cover art I was now familiar with, and my name right on the front. I opened the pages and saw my words, those words I know so well I could probably quote chapters of the book verbatim. But they look different in their finished form. Complete.

This is what I was waiting for. It's a real book.

I decided it was getting close enough to pre-order from Amazon, so I should get my copy in about a month. Here's hoping it's wildly successful!

It is! I finally got both copies back (my son and husband each took one, and I didn't see them for three days) so it's finally my turn to show them off.

Did you know that it is reviewed in the current issue of Romantic Times Magazine? Amy pointed that out to me this morning.

Cool! I'm not subscribed, so I can't read it. But I see it's three stars, so that's okay.

Judging from the text of the very short review (one paragragh), I don't think they read anything more than the blurb and the (maybe the first chapter). Thusly written by Broadfoot without his bias goggles on!

Well, that seems to be par for this course - so far I've seen a review in which Kestrel's captain is described as "hunky" (Binns?) and one in which the reader was happy once Kes got onto the pirate ship (which means he was happy on the first sentence?)

Hey, as long as the reviews end with nice thoughts, I'm happy.

Wheee!!!! Cool seeing them in their final form, ain't it? It's one of the things that I love about my job--I see the manuscript and every durn stage until the finished book. And when that finished book comes in, it's so cool.

However, I imagine it's even cooler when it's your own.

I'm waiting impatiently for it to be released you know. Preordered of course.

It really is cool! I keep looking at it, especially my name there on the cover, and it still feels so bizarre.

Thank you, darling - I hope you enjoy the story!

Congrats!

So what are you doing with them now? Have you reread the story in its entirety now that it's a book book? Or, are you afraid if you reread it, you'll end up wanting to change things? (When I ever get to that stage, I don't know which direction I'll swing in ^_^)

Congrats again. Must be awesome to see your name on the cover. I can't wait until it's released!
