Especially some of my 8th grade boys, who lovelovelove fantasy. Today we had an interesting discussion of how some writers of YA fiction seem determined to talk down to their audiences, while others just tell a bloody good story.
John Flanagan's Ranger Apprentice novels tell an excellent story that is accessible to young readers without insulting their intelligence. Five copies of each of the first three books in the series were in the Book Fair, and I managed to sell all of them today. We had to order more, because two other boys wanted to read them as well.
