Jun. 5th, 2008 07:08 pmThis is the kind of class I always liked best in school.
Senior year of high school, I only needed two classes to graduate, so I could leave at noon if I wanted to. My mother, who felt that a half-day off was wasted time, convinced me to sign up for afternoon sessions of English 101 and History 101 at the local university extension. The history class was great because of the teacher, and one of our coolest lessons was the day he had us march around the building with giant cardboard shields, forming a phalanx. I've never forgotten what a phalanx looks like, nor how it works, because of him.
