For those who were wondering, the neighbors' dogs did, indeed, shut up, and therefore survived the afternoon. You see, the neighbor to my right has two (or three - it's hard to tell sometimes) German Shepherds in a fenced-in yard. The neighbor to the left has a big rawboned canine of indeterminate breed, also in a fenced-in yard. One of the German Shepherds has learned how to escape from his yard. Which means that about once a week, he spends the day running across my back yard making all the dogs bark insanely. For hours.

All dogs appear to be in their proper yards today, and all is quiet. Whew!

I ran across a delightful comment yesterday from a 14-year-old, who called my book "pure genious". *giggle* It made the whole evening shiny!
