I know, I said I'd talk about books on Mondays and this is Tuesday. Whatever...do you want to know what I read or not? Alright, then. Last week's book was Precious Dragon, from Liz Williams' Inspector Chen series. It was fun! If you haven't read the first two books, please do - this series really ought to be experienced from start to present, because the relationships of the characters develop slowly and cautiously. In Precious Dragon, Chen and his partner, the demon Zhu Irzh, have finally relaxed enough around each other that they work smoothly together when the trouble starts. And trouble there is...Heaven has sent a representative to visit the Ministries of Hell, and our two intrepid officers must escort her there. But why has she come? What is Heaven up to? And what does it all have to do with one vanished opera chorus boy and a newly arrived child wiser than his years? Of the three I've read, this must be my favorite. But read the first two first, so you know who's who and why they're where they are, 'kay?
