I am home.
Aug. 11th, 2008 05:40 pmDenvention was great, and I'll be posting about those adventures later. I even have photos!!! For now, I am decompressing from the awful experience of having my connecting flight cancelled and being forced to sleep on the floor of the airport. You know, I understand that weather happens and flights are delayed, but the JetBlue rep who was cheerfully not helping me at all told me they cancelled my flight so that they could start fresh and on time the next morning. So sorry! I could hang around the airport and maybe fly out on Tuesday night. And no, they wouldn't offer me a voucher for a hotel, nor could she recommend one. And of course she could not help me find a flight on another airline - that's against their policy.
I have to give major props to American Airlines and USAir. Four American Airlines ticketing personnel (Daniel, Amanda, Natasha and Maggie) saw my distress at being stranded in a city I didn't know. They took me in hand, comforted me, found me a USAir flight, and even bought me a cold Pepsi. My USAir flight was leaving today at 9:45 pm, but the USAir folks helped me get my name on standby for every flight to Charlotte this morning, so that when a seat opened up on this morning's 6:45 am flight, I could get on and get home. I danced all the way down the walkway to board that plane - I haven't been that happy in a long time. I'm leaning heavily toward American for my next flight, regardless of the cost. Those people know what customer service is all about.
So at last I'm home. I'm clean. I've had a nap. Dinner is being discussed. Life is good.

Date: 2008-08-12 02:48 am (UTC)Glad to hear good things about American. If you're ever going anywhere Alaska Airlines goes, I can't recommend them highly enough - courteous, on time, and they feed you (cookies, but still, it's something).
United... can't say the same.

Date: 2008-08-12 08:12 pm (UTC)Alas, probably not. I'm scheduled for Ravencon the weekend after NorwesCon, and since school will still be in session, I probably can't get enough time off to manage both. *waahhhh*
But we're looking at World Fantasy 2009...
