Aug. 18th, 2008 05:20 pmToday in 1227, Genghis Khan died in his sleep, after a fall from his horse. His old age and drinking probably contributed to his death, which the Mongols managed to keep secret for some time.
I, however, being neither a drunkard on horseback nor an aging khan, spent the day doing laundry, writing, and taking the Beetle to the $1.50 theater to see Prince Caspian. There were about 15 others in the theater with us. A few minutes after the movie began, a woman walked in with nearly a dozen very young children, and where did she decide they HAD to sit? A nearly empty theater, and she chooses the row behind me. She banged me in the head several times with her giant diaper bag, then reached down the back of my shirt! I grabbed her arm and said, "Excuse me!" loudly, and finally she seemed to notice that I was sitting there. She yanked her arm away, and walked across the aisle to sit away from the kids (who were quiet and well-behaved the whole time, bless their hearts.)
Luckily Annoying Woman stayed over on her side the rest of the time, and we could watch the movie, which was worth more than the $1.50 ticket price, but not quite worth the regular theater's $7.00 ticket price. Romance between Susan and Caspian? Bleh. Peter and Edmund battling the bad guys? Yay! The child who plays Lucy is going to be a stunner when she's grown. And Edmund is already too handsome, which makes me feel a little squicky, since I'm old enough to be his mama. I know it's my inner 17-year-old finding him attractive, but still.
