Today in 1305, William Wallace was executed for treason by Edward I of England. Scots wha hae!

We trekked to Mary Jo's this morning. For those who aren't local, Mary Jo's is an incredibly well-stocked fabric store in Gastonia NC, and a frequent pre-faire visit. Since [livejournal.com profile] philipmcavery has decided on a really bang-up look for faire this year, we were in need of a couple pieces of fabric with which to complete his outfit. And since I was there, I got some for myself. *grin* Fabric is fun!

And for those who might want to know, I will be dancing at the Carolina Renaissance Faire on the following days:

Sun, Oct 12
Sat, Oct 25
Sun, Oct 26
Sat, Nov 1
Sun, Nov 9
Sat, Nov 15

As far as I know, we are still on the Dutch Door Stage. If that has changed, I'll post it as soon as I know. In addition, I will be signing books on Sat, Nov 8 (for Pirate's Christmas Weekend.) I would love to see any of you who might want to come out!

and to quote the Wallace when he was accused of heresy "Not my kirk" and then for treason he responded not my king He may be gone but his memory definitely lingers on. Btw two things of note my parents are originally from just outside Glasgow AND my grandsire was MacBeth :-)

...AND my grandsire was MacBeth.

This is me jealous!!! The only famous forebear I can claim with any certainty is Clara Barton (she's my several-times-great aunt, on my father's side, from her brother's line.)

You'd think I'd have a pirate in the mix somewhere, but no. *pout*

Cool!! The only one we can claim is Pocohontas, aunt-something through marriage (related up through Rolfe's brother, not Pochontas herself).

My family is prtty much hum-drum folk. :)

Pocahontas was SO my hero as a kid! I grew up in Virginia, and just loved her story. I wouldn't even watch the Disney film, because of all the liberties they took. *grin*

YEA!!!! Charles will have to figure out what day we can come out this year! I'm hoping to come out at least twice thisd year. I wanted another season pass but alas those scurvy tickets be too expensive!

Mom and I are planning to make the pilgrimage to Mary Jo's this coming weekend to look for fun and shiny/ shimmery fabrics to sew fancy tablecloths out of for the wedding. :-D
