Today in AD 79, the city of Pompeii woke up to find that they must have annoyed the volcano. It was the day after Vulcanalia, the festival of the Roman god of fire. When a god demands a shrubbery, people, give him the danged shrubbery!

I am jealous of all my friends who're headed southward to DragonCon next weekend. I spent the majority of this year's travel budget going to WorldCon, so I really can't make it down there. But since it seems that a good 3/4 of the people I know or have ever met are going to be in attendance, I have a favor to ask. My editor, Stacy Hague-Hill, will be there, hanging out at all the Tor panels. If you happen to cross paths with her, please say hello to her. If you're one of my crew, tell her that, too.

Don't feel bad. I live here and I'm not going. This makes 12 years (since I moved to the south) that I'd planned on going, and things turned out otherwise. I've still never been.

We're not headed down either. I swore up and down last year I was going to be there this year! Alas, my budget hath gone the way of the Bozenka workshop (meaning, that WAS my budget, lol, and it went down the tube!). Maybe next year, eh?
