Today in 1939, Nazi Germany attacked Poland, beginning the war. Switzerland mobilized its forces and the Swiss Parliament elected Henri Guisan to head the Swiss Army (an event that can happen only during war or mobilization). Is that why the Family Channel was running The Sound of Music all weekend?

I always find it interesting that Labor Day finds me either rearranging furniture or doing a huge house-cleaning. Yes, the day devoted to allowing laborers to rest is the day I work physically harder than any ordinary day. Go figure. But the computer room is now seriously tidy, and ready to become the computer/gaming room. Leaving the great room to be blessedly free of the XBox. For this, I'd have worked all day. :D

And has anyone seen Jim Cantore? TWC said this morning that he's in Houma, LA, but that his satellite went down. I depend on Jim for my storm reports, so I can't help worrying.

I hope he's alright! I love watching him--that man has no fear! He's out there and the wind and rain are nearly rolling him around like a tumbleweed, but darn it, he's reporting.
